Lawrence Area Book Club

Hello everyone,

After much delay, the first meeting of the ks_booknerds is happening. Thanks for the emails and support, and I hope to see lots of you there! Even if you don't read the book and want more information about us, come to the meeting. Bring friends, significant others, neighbors, etc. Everyone is welcome!

Once we all meet for the first time, we can decide where to meet in the future, how to choose books, etc. I'm up for meeting anywhere, and reading just about anything. Email or post any questions or comments. Thanks!

Here is the info:

Where: House of Cha (9th and Vermont- downtown)
When: Wednesday, July 27th at 7
The book: Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
Email me at: ks_booknerds@yahoo.com

*Bring ideas for places to meet in the future, titles of books you'd like to read with the group and anyone you'd like*

Cool! I hope you can make it.

Bring with you: books you'd like to read with the group, ideas for places you'd like to meet and anyone you'd like.

Ooh, we were just talking about that book on a discussion list I'm a part of. I'd love to come, and it'll give me an excuse to read that particular book.

Awesome.

I'm moving into town just a few days before this meeting.

Three cheers for reading books and meeting new people!

Hey everybody-

I'm so glad to get such a good response. I've been in book groups in a few other cities and they have been great.

Good luck with your finals, adammaker(I was in "general" chemistry in hs and haven't so much as touched it since) and welcome to Lawrence subplot2! Lawrence has been my home for almost 3 years and for 2 more, and I absolutely love it here!

I picked the book because it's been catching my eye for a while, and I thought it would be a cool book for discussion. The meeting place was sort of random. I wanted a place where we wouldn't have to buy food, and a place that would hold a group of people but still be cozy. Everyone can have a turn picking the books and we can talk about a change of meeting space if we need to. I called ahead and have us "booked" for that night.

Can't wait to meet you all in person!

I'm in.

I was given a copy of "Wicked" for Christmas and haven't gotten around to it yet. Guess it just got bumped up high on my to-read list!

count me in as well!

So, i just noticed that the date specified said July 27th and not June 27th, ha ha! Sorry about my e-mail, Annie! I'll definitely be there at House of Cha the 27th of JULY, then, to discuss the book! I'm really excited! House of Cha is awesome and I look forward to meeting everyone and discussing the book! Have a good month in the meantime!
